Look, Ma! No Grains!

Paleo Day 1 Update:

Lunch - 2 lettuce wraps, consisting of a giant piece of lettuce, 1 piece of roast beef, 3 cut up grape tomatoes, some mustard, and some red onion, and about 1/3 of a jicama cut up like french fries. (see what i did there? burger and fries, foodie caveman-style!) It's beautiful.

However. The internet is divided on whether jicama is paleo.

  • one stance: i figure, if you can dig it up with a stick and eat it without being poisoned, go for it.
  • the other: tubers aren't paleo. jicama is a tuber. = jicama isn't paleo. DROP THE JICAMA

This is not going so well.

WWGD - What Would Grok Do?

After a weekend filled with an obscene amount of junk food,* started Paleo today. Ish.
The exceptions are as follows:
  • I have like four cartons of soy milk in my cupboard that i have to use. Then i'll switch to almond milk. Grok didn't eat soy.
  • Peanuts are not technically a nut. They are, however, my favorite nut. I'm eating peanut butter.
  • I am allowing myself exactly 2 wasa crackers per day.
So basically everything i have eaten on my first day of paleo (coffee with soy milk, wasa crackers and peanut butter) is off-plan. So basically paleo to me, today, means that i have meat cooking in the crock pot, and purchased a fair amount of vegetables yesterday. None of which i have since consumed.
*Booze, Wendy's, Granola Bar, Burger King, Granola Bar, Potato Chips, Discounted Valentine's Day Candy, Half of an apple(!), Orange Gatorade, Booze.
